2007 Rally4Canton Results

The 2nd Annual Rally4Canton held on Saturday, May 12, 2007 was a great success.

Our sponsors and participants helped us to raise over $15,000 for our beneficiaries.  To make the day even more enjoyable, those who participated had a great time.

The ultimate in bragging rights went to our top finishing teams:

1st place, Team #18, the Gas Passer Gang, with 299 points
2nd place, Team #12, Lowe Riders, with 284 points
3rd place, Team #08, Bouyant Brigade, with 280 points

Presenting sponsor IKEA presented the winning team with a signature chair for each team member.  2nd and 3rd place teams received gift baskets containing wine and gift certificates from sponsors such as Famous Dave's, Fellows Creek Golf Club, Home Depot, Maria's Bakery, and Rose's Restaurant.

And, with a "better luck next time" prize, finishing in last place was Team #16, PRB&B, with 93 points.  They received Rally4Canton baseball caps to encourage them to do better next year!

Secrets of the Rally
One of the most frequently asked questions at the finish line party was "Where were those bonus banners?"  2 special banners were hidden throughout Canton.  Taking a team photo with these banners was worth 25 points each.

One of the banners was located on a Canton Computer truck in the parking lot of East Salem High School.  It could be spotted while traveling to the original location of the Cady-Boyer Barn.

Our second banner was hidden so well nobody found it!  It was on the fence on farm property owned by Bob Boyer off Barr Road.  It could be spotted if you took the dirt roads while traveling to the cell tower near Barr and Mott Roads.

We also got tons of people who thought our decorations at Superbowl counted as bonus banners!  A nice try, but no bonus points for the 22 teams that tried this trick!

Feedback
We were very proud to get lots of positive comments from participants. Here's a sampling:

"What a FANTASTIC time we had! Thank you all so much for the hard work that went into making this road rally such an amazing event. The clues were hard enough that we had to work at it to solve them, but not so hard that we got totally frustrated. Everyone (participants and workers) seemed to be having a great time. Ikea put out a wonderful spread at the end. We cannot wait for the next one. Any thought to doing this several times a year? ;) Thank you, thank you, thank you!"  Karen Peoples

"I just wanted to say that on behalf of my road rally team, we had a great time on Saturday night. The clues were challenging, but that is what made it fun. So thank you for all the behind the scenes hard
work!" Shannon Cullen

"I just wanted to say that we had a wonderful time at the Road Rally on Saturday. The puzzles were perfectly challenging and you sure came up with some cleaver ways to do things! ... I have to say that I especially loved that you put the driver's licenses in the envelope. You had many clever people working on this! Thanks again for a great time and congratulations on raising so much money for your projects.  I hope you consider doing this more than just once a year ... we're hooked! :-]"  Diann Dupuis

"Thanks for such a great time! My team is definitely planning on doing it again next year. We can tell how much planning went into the clues, and we appreciate it. Thanks again." Val Murray and the Wombat team
